Opening Alert
Austin restaurant group's new pizza and beer joint boogies into Round Rock
The new concept from acclaimed Austin restaurant group SMGB Hospitality Co. is opening just around the corner. New York-inspired pizza restaurant PS 35 debuts in Round Rock on May 30, promising "pizza, beer, and boogie."
"In New York City, public schools are referred to by a PS number, and since our pies and design are totally a tribute to that city, we took the naming convention and incorporated the 35 from our location off the interstate," explains Christian Romero of SMGBin a release.
The new Austin-based restaurant group, whose all-star team hails from top spots like Hopdoddy Burger Bar and Hai Hospitality, debuted Old Thousand to much acclaim in late 2016. This is the group's second venture.
Executive chef Clint Elmore, who trained in Naples, Italy, has crafted a menu of hand-tossed thin-crust pizzas, sandwiches, and other Italian dishes. Classics like margherita pizza and meatball subs can be found alongside house creations such as Spaghetti-O's & Meatballs. For dessert? Soft-serve ice cream.
The drink menu features a long list of craft beer and cocktails, as well as two rotating taps for frozen concoctions (can you say frosé?).
The large-format restaurant boasts 15,000 square feet of indoor-outdoor space. Inside you'll find a family-friendly atmosphere complete with arcade games, plus a subway platform in the dining room. An outdoor pavilion will feature live music (hence the boogie) and yard games.
Look for PS 35 at 1500 N. IH 35 in Round Rock. Opening hours are Monday through Thursday, 5-10 pm; Friday and Saturday, 5-11 pm; and Sunday, 5-9 pm.
