Downtown Austin heats up with even more restaurant openings
Fox Restaurant Group, the successful operator of such concepts as True Food Kitchen and Culinary Dropout, is expanding its Austin portfolio with two openings in downtown Austin. Flower Child and North Italia (formerly NoRTH) are opening in the 2nd Street District in late 2017.
These will be the second Austin locations for the both concepts; North Italia and Flower Child can also be found in The Domain and Domain Northside, respectively. The restaurants will be located at 500 W. Second St., at the former Thomas C. Green Water Treatment Plant, part of the Seaholm District redevelopment.
Flower Child offers healthy food for a variety of diets. The menu features gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan items with a few meaty options peppered in. Think salads, soups, wraps, and bowls for lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch.
North Italia's first Austin location has been a staple for over a decade. The second outpost promises the same scratch-made pastas and pizzas, hearty Italian entrees, family-friendly atmosphere, and happy hour deals.
Downtown Austin is on fire with new openings. Fareground, Austin's first food hall, and Fairmont Austin, the area's newest (and largest) hotel, will introduce a host of new eateries in 2017.
