A Perfect Patio
East Austin oasis named one of the best outdoor dining spots in the U.S.
Patio season never ends here, but the rest of the country is primed for outdoor dining now that we're closing in on summer. To help discerning diners decide where to eat al fresco, the reservation site OpenTable has released its 2014 list of the 100 Best Outdoor Dining Restaurants in America, including one charming Austin oasis.
While the options for al fresco meals in Austin are vast (and delicious!), Eden East garners a nod as the only local restaurant on the list (and one of only four from Texas).
To determine the winners, OpenTable analyzed more than 5 million reviews of almost 19,000 restaurants across the country. The list, says OpenTable, "highlights restaurants that offer stunning views, unique cuisine and, above all, fabulous outdoor dining experiences."
Located on the grounds of East Austin's Springdale Farms, Eden East offers an idyllic setting for leisurely weekend dinners. The restaurant, open only on Fridays and Saturdays (and occasionally for weekend brunches), features a new prix-fixe menu from acclaimed chef Sonya Cote each week. Long wooden tables, charming lights, mason jars and a BYOB setup yield a casual environment perfect for whiling away a few hours.
On this year's list, California had the greatest number of outdoor dining restaurants, followed by Florida, Hawaii and Arizona. Three other Texas restaurants, all located in Dallas-Fort Worth, made the list: Saint Ann in Dallas, The Woodshed in Fort Worth and Cafe Malaga in McKinney.
