6 Austin reverse happy hours with killer late-night food and drink deals
Whether one works late or is just looking to extend the party without breaking the bank, there are hundreds of reasons to stay up for a reverse happy hour — and almost as many spots offering killer late-night deals. From a so-bad-it’s-good chain to one of the Capital City’s trendiest hot spots, these are the best stops for bargains after dark.
BarChi Sushi
This downtown sushi spot has long been the go-to for great late-night offerings. Hot sake is just $6, plus $4 Kirin Lights, $5 Tito’s or Jameson cocktails, and more. On the food front, night owls can combo up the scallop and bacon skewers and the yellowtail Samurai roll topped with pepper tuna, escolar, avocado, wasabi mayo, and eel sauce. Dive in from 10 pm to midnight on Thursday, until 1 am on Friday, and all day on Sunday.
Better Half Coffee & Cocktails
Located a couple blocks west of North Lamar Boulevard on Fifth Street, this hip cafe offers an essential reverse happy hour from 9 pm to midnight on Sunday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, and from 9 pm to 2 am Thursday through Sunday. Pop in for $1 Pearl beers and $5 draft cocktails like the tequila and mezcal concoction Head West — a margarita variation with a tamarind shrub and a smoked chili salt rim. Guests who need a quick bite can choose from a beef, chicken, or veggie cheeseburger burger for just $5 between 9-10 pm.
Copper Restaurant & Dessert Lounge
After a long day of shopping at the Domain, stop by this Southern-tinged eatery from 9-11 pm on Friday or Saturday. The reverse happy hour menu includes $5 draft beers; $4 glasses of select house wines; and $5 sips like the Esperanza, a frozen blood orange margarita. The snacks and shared plates menu is also half off. Try the Trash Fries with thick-cut bacon, candied jalapeños, chipotle queso, and ranch.
Dave And Buster’s
Even folks without kids will dig this chain’s playful reverse happy hour. Get in a few games of Skee-Ball while enjoying half-priced cocktails, dollar-off 22-ounce drafts, dollar-off wines by the glass, and other libations. Bites such as Bavarian pretzels and loaded pot stickers are $5 a plate. The deals are available from 9-11 pm Sunday through Thursday.
Oasthouse Kitchen + Bar
This Four Points neighborhood favorite has plenty of late-night offerings, including $5 frozen margaritas — the perfect drink to combat the 100-degree Texas heat lingering far after the sun goes down. To balance out the buzz, grab $5 shishito peppers, $6 falafel fritters, or $7 pulled pork sliders. Show up between 9-10 pm Monday through Thursday or 10-11 pm on Friday and Saturday.
Satellite
This Circle C eatery generously offers up a reverse happy every day after 9 pm. Hit the bar, lounge, or patio for $4 off bottles of wine, $2 off all margaritas and “craftails” — variations on classic drinks like a barrel-aged Old Fashioned and a Negroni with Cocchi Americano instead of Campari. Guests can also take $1 off beer, glasses of wine, and more. Items on the bar bites menu — such as the smoked salmon bruschetta and the calamari — also get a buck discount.
