Park it and Bark it
7 upscale Austin eateries that are dog-friendly and delicious
Austin, as we all know, is for dog lovers, and the city's more casual hot spots welcome our furry friends. The ABGB, for instance, has a beer on the menu (the APA! APA) whose proceeds benefit Austin Pets Alive! Not to be outdone, Banger’s Sausage House & Beer Garden has an off-leash dog park and special chef-created dog sausages, while Yard Bar has gone, well, entirely to the dogs.
Sometimes, though, you want to make your night out a little more special than cold drafts and pub fare. When you want fancier dining options but don’t want to leave your four-legged companion out of the fun, these upscale eateries welcome both you and your pup for a more refined night on the town.
Enoteca Vespaio
The original South Congress dining destination, Enoteca Vespaio features a shady side patio where you and your fur buddy can enjoy stunning charcuterie, homemade Italian dishes, and a refreshing glass of rosé. Plus, the restaurant's happy hour is one of the best deals in town.
June’s All Day
June Rodil loves her yellow lab Shatzi so much, she made her the restaurant and wine bar’s mascot. It makes perfect sense that your beloved fur baby is welcome on the sidewalk patio while you enjoy half-off bubbles during happy hour (or, as the name implies, all day long).
Moonshine Patio Bar & Grill
The patio at Moonshine is a great spot to sip on a Good Hearted Old Fashioned with your good-hearted canine companion. With the weather finally cooling off, enjoy the selection of elevated Southern comfort food in front of an outdoor fireplace. (Good dogs always love to curl up in front of the fire.)
Patrizi’s at Butterfly Bar
Patrizi’s isn’t your average food truck. Tucked away off Manor Road, the dog-friendly outdoor area at Butterfly Bar feels like an enchanted secret garden. The hyper-knowledgable staff at Patrizi’s provide a casual fine dining experience featuring handmade pasta and passed amuse-bouche in a funky grotto setting. And yes, that is a chandelier hanging outside.
Perla's Seafood & Oyster Bar
If beautifully prepared seafood, a curated raw bar, and Austin’s best people watching are what you’re after, the dog-friendly front patio at Perla’s on South Congress fits the bill nicely. Relax with your furry BFF under the shade of giant Live Oaks and watch the world go by with a nice glass of wine from its curated list.
Salty Sow
The folks at Salty Sow on Manor Road want to make you and your pup feel right at home. The patio is an idyllic place to feast on responsibly sourced, high-end gastropub offerings like truffled deviled eggs and seared duck breast with cardamom and orange. Rover might luck out with some of the best table scraps he’s ever snarfed down.
Sour Duck Market
While not quite as posh as its sister restaurants, Barley Swine and Odd Duck, this new east side staple offers the same thoughtful farm-to-table fare chef Bryce Gilmore is known for. The beer garden out back is a great spot to enjoy the seasonal menu and craft cocktails, all with Fido in tow.
