An exclusive sneak peek at St. Philip's bakery menu available next week
South Austin has been buzzing about the newest restaurant from the Uchi team since details about the concept emerged last winter. Located in Sunset Valley, St. Philip opens to the public on October 2, bringing with it a wide departure from the Asian fare that has made chef/owner Tyson Cole a household name.

Named for the patron saint of pastry chefs and bakers, St. Philip will function as part bakery and part pizza parlor. At the helm is Philip Speer, executive pastry chef and director of culinary operations for Uchi restaurants. With a pastry chef in charge, the restaurant will have a heavy focus on house-made pizzas, gourmet sandwiches and small plates — but we're here to talk about the sweet stuff.

In addition to kolaches and viennioserie (think croissants), expect to find doughnuts in flavors like Coffee Maple Sugar, Fried Milk, and Orange + Cornflake. Cookies include Brown Butter Chocolate Chip, Root Beer Snickerdoodle and Chocolate Malt. Want more sweets? Try Lemon Meringue, Banana Pudding or S’mores Snowballs cake. The back wall of St. Philip will feature Ciabatta, Focaccia Quarters, Hoagies and Dutch Crunch Sliders (all of which you can take home).
