Bee Cave institution Café Blue will soon debut downtown. The 15-year-old seafood restaurant announced plans to open an outpost near the Austin Convention Center this fall.
"I grew up in Austin and am thrilled to get back to my roots to open our second Café Blue location in the heart of the city," said owner Pete Clark in a release. "Our high-quality seafood combined with a fun and casual atmosphere will be a perfect addition to current downtown offerings."
The restaurant will move into the Second Street space previously occupied by short-lived Revival Public House, which replaced Crave in December 2015.
Café Blue opened in 2001 at Sandy Creek Marina in Lake Travis. In 2011, the restaurant relocated to the bustling Hill Country Galleria. Executive chef Ben Nathan flies in fresh seafood daily; he offers daily features such as Copper River sockeye salmon and bacon-wrapped scallops.
Café Blue opens at 340 E. Second St. this fall. Hours for the downtown location are Monday through Thursday, 11 am to 10 pm; Friday, 11 am to 11 pm; Saturday, 9 am to 11 pm; and Sunday, 9 am to 10 pm. Brunch will be served on weekends.
