Just three days after Olivia closed its doors, chef/owner James Holmes revealed plans to turn the restaurant space at 2043 S. Lamar Blvd. into Lucy's on the Fly, a to-go version of his popular Lucy's Fried Chicken chain.
Holmes teased a new concept when Olivia's closure was announced last month, but he didn't divulge any details until now. While Lucy's on the Fly will focus on takeout, delivery, and curbside service, it will also feature a dine-in option.
"We've been receiving requests for more to-go volume from our Lucy's guests for years, and we're excited to be able to meet this demand with Lucy's on the Fly," Holmes said in a release.
In addition to Lucy's usual lineup of fried chicken, hearty sides, and sweet pies, the menu will include three new dishes: a fried chicken sandwich, a seared chicken sandwich, and a juicy burger. Oysters, a star on the other Lucy's menus, will not be available at this location.
The new outpost will offer a full bar for dine-in service. And, to make the space even more inviting,Olivia's quaint garden will be transformed into a kid-friendly play area.
This is the fourth Lucy's location in Austin. Lucy's Lake Travis spot opened last year, and two more outposts can be found on South Congress Boulevard and Burnet Road.
Renovation of the South Lamar space is underway, and Lucy's on the Fly will open in the next few weeks.
