Weekly specials: Take a break from Turkey Day prep with deals on tasty meals
It's Thanksgiving week, which means many of us are going to be busy in the kitchen. With so many weekly specials at some of the best restaurants in town, it's good to know that we have options for taking the pressure off! Try some of these great picks designed to give you a break—without breaking the bank.
Monday
Monday Madness at Brick Oven Pizza brings you unbeatable specials on the classic combination of pizza and beer. Buy a large pizza at regular price and get an equal or lesser value pizza absolutely free. Pair that with a cold pitcher of Bud Light or Shiner Bock beer for $10; Fireman’s Four or Dos XX pitchers go for $12.
Tuesday
At the North Door, “Moonshine Molly Tuesdays” is happening until December 7. Starting at 6 p.m., the first 25 guests in the door receive a free sample of moonshine whiskey and a free tamale from their amazing resident food truck, Tamale Molly. If you get stuck in Austin traffic and end up guest number 26, don’t fret, their $2 domestics, $2 wells and moonshine specials last all night. At Tamale Molly, get a single tamale with a Modelo Especial for just $5. Call it a cheap date, but only if you must.
Wednesday
“On the day before Thanksgiving, all through the town, not a woman was resting, all were grocery store bound.” For daredevils who take on hosting Thanksgiving, Chez Zee has the perfect recipe for those pre-Turkey Day jitters: Ladies Happy Hour ALL Day. Take the edge off with a $3 frozen drink or Zangria or $2 off wine. Indulge in spinach artichoke dip, popcorn shrimp or fried pickles for $3-$5. Chez Zee is also offering a take out menu of holiday pies & sides. Keep it your little secret and give thanks to Chez Zee! Place your order by noon on Tuesday, and stop in for happy hour before 9 p.m. on Wednesday for pickup.
Thanksgiving Thursday
The Driskill Grill takes the hustle and bustle out of Thanksgiving with a leisurely brunch buffet that not only grants you world-class food but keeps the kids happy, too. They’ll be entertained by a magician and enjoy cupcake decorating while you sip on complimentary mimosas. Brunch is $62 for adults, and $31 for kids ages 6-12. Kids under six eat free. (Reservations recommended: 512-391-7121.)
Friday
Worn out from all the Turkey Day work? Let someone else do the cooking—Friday night is playtime at pet-friendly Red’s Porch. Enjoy a round of washers or watch a game on one of their many T’s. Starting at 5 p.m. on Friday, it’s “Smoke House Dinner”-time. Local beer is priced at $3 from open to close, and Red’s kitchen presents a different smoked entree each week, such as Redneck Chicken Cordon Bleu. Get it while it lasts!
Saturday
Waffles are not just for breakfast anymore. At Lucky J’s on Burnet, "The Shotcaller" feeds up to four, giving you 12 pieces of chicken and six waffles for just $19.99. “The Baller” is for smaller appetites, with eight pieces of chicken and four waffles for $17.99. If you’re picking it up, they cook everything fresh so allow for time to drop the chicken in the fryer! Open for dinner Thursday-Saturday and lunch on other days.
Sunday
For those near and dear to Steiner Ranch, Happy Hour is from 3-9 p.m. every Sunday at CHO Sushi Japanese Fusion, with half price hot sake and sake bombs, $4 appetizers, $3 sushi and $4 rolls. Grab a beer for $1 off, or a nice glass of wine for $4. Try their Omakase, a chef’s choice of appetizer, sashimi and specialty rolls/sushi for just $35.
