Cool new cocktail bar opens in hot downtown Austin district

The Warehouse District's newest lounge promises to raise the bar. Sellers, a swanky cocktail space from the team behind Rainey Street hot spot Icenhauer's, opens Tuesday, December 13.
"We are really proud to be part of the Warehouse District's exciting and diverse nightlife scene," says owner Michael Icenhauer in a release. "Sellers brings something new and entertaining to Austin. Our mission is to offer a great experience with the Texas friendliness everyone expects."
Originally slated to open Labor Day, Sellers is located in a 5,800-square-foot venue at 213 W. Fourth St. Patrons can expect the "underground feel of a 1970s basement" — think brass accents, wood paneling, yellow velvet — courtesy of the Michael Hsu Office of Architecture.
"We wanted to create an authentic experience reminiscent of the decade — something that evokes the cocktail era of the '70s in Chicago or New York City — a bit of glam, yet stylish and sophisticated," Icenhauer says.
The booze selection is well-rounded, and the cocktails are where it's at. You'll find classics along with original Sellers creations, several of which are named after iconic films of the decade. Sip on the Deeply Religious Experience (Animal House), featuringvodka with dry vermouth, or the Holy Hand Grenade (Monty Python and the Holy Grail), featuring rye whiskey with fernet.
Mixed drinks will be complemented by nightly music programming. A large dance floor can be transformed into a separate space for private events.
Sellers is open daily from 4 pm to 2 am. The cocktail lounge is the first of several new concepts to come from hospitality group Icenhauer Ventures.
