New Year's Brunch
10 New Year's Day brunches to help cure your hangover
New Year's Day means a fresh start, a clean slate, bright opportunities — and most likely a massive hangover from partying too hard the night before. To help get you out of bed and working on those New Year's resolutions, we found 10 restaurants serving up delicious brunch spreads and stiff morning cocktails.
Olivia
This South Lamar brunch haven is offering its usual weekend brunch menu just for New Year's Day. Sink your teeth into the "MacDaddy," an Olivia original with mustard glazed pork belly and scrambled eggs over an English muffin, or go for other hearty options like shrimp and grits, biscuits and gravy or a Croque Madame.
10 am until 2:30 pm
Banger's Sausage & Beer Garden
Head over to Rainey Street for Banger's special take on eggs Benedict or try the "Bang-A-Ranchero" for a Tex-Mex twist. If a hangover is getting the best of you, better try a "manmosa" (a mimosa that comes in a one liter glass) or visit the make-your-own michelada bar. Tunes from Dead Capital Music Band and Urban Achievers will provide inspiration to get over that headache quickly.
10 am until 3 pm
Gourdough's Public House
Gourdough's boasts that it will be offering the "best hangover cure" in Austin. You can indulge in a stacked donut like the Petunia (pulled pork and a fried egg over a donut) or The Frenchy (French toast donut with bacon) — just be sure to add a Bloody Mary to that order to complete the cure. In honor of New Year's, customers will receive a complimentary side of black eyed peas.
10 am until 5 pm
Contigo
Contigo is also offering its weekend brunch menu in celebration of 2015. Gorge yourself on a plethora of baked goods (pecan coffee cake, anyone?) or check out more robust dishes like beef tongue hash, nopales, fried chicken and quiche. And don't forget to order up a drink from Contigo's celebrated bar staff.
10:30 am until 2:30 pm
Lucky Robot
If your craving Japanese food, Lucky Robot is getting creative with New Year's brunch. Choose items from the regular brunch menu or try New Year's Day specials like the brunch bento box, black eyed peas with candied bacon, a tamago omelet and more. For your morning after cocktail fix, we suggest the sake bellini.
10 am until 3 pm
Mulberry
Mulberry is also offering its weekend brunch menu for this special occasion. Treat yourself to Mulberry's usual scrumptious choices like quail and biscuits, a garden omelet, blueberry crepes and more.
11 am until 3 pm
TRIO
Go all out for New Year's Day with a beautiful buffet spread from TRIO at the Four Seasons Hotel Austin. You can customize your omelets and eggs Benedict or grab a plate of chicken and waffles, ribeye steak and more.
10 am until 2 pm; $58 for adults and $29 for children
The Driskill Grill
If you think brunch is more about Bloody Marys than breakfast food, this is the spot for you. Indulge in the Bloody Mary bar at The Driskill Grill, then indulge in the chef's culinary treats on the special menu.
11 am until 4pm
South Congress Cafe
Brunch is served daily at South Congress Cafe, and New Year's is no exception. The cafe's expansive menu includes crab enchiladas, pork asada, migas, carrot cake French toast as well as several soups and salads.
10 am until 4 pm
Bouldin Creek Cafe
This South First Street classic is another breakfast-all-day kind of establishment. A trip to Bouldin Creek Cafe on New Year's Day is recommended for all the vegetarians and vegans out there, as well as any coffee addicts. The espresso menu is almost as large — and just as delicious — as its food menu.
