Hollywood heroes and rising stars hit the Texas Film Awards red carpet
Hollywood heroes and the silver screen's rising stars took to Austin's red carpet on Thursday, March 6 for the annual Texas Film Awards. Presented by the Austin Film Society, the event, which serves as an unofficial kickoff to the SXSW Film Festival, was hosted at Austin Studios (a 20-acre film and creative media production complex located in Central Austin).
Actor Luke Wilson served as master of ceremonies for the prestigious awards program. He was joined on the red carpet with the supreme talents representing Texas' filmmaking legacy. Robert Rodriguez posed with hometown movie hero Richard Linklater, and guests were star-struck by the appearances of legends Johnny Depp and Priscilla Presley.
During the awards ceremony, Amber Heard, who recently starred in Machete Kills and All the Boys Love Mandy Lane, was presented the Rising Star Award. Lubbock, Texas native Mac Davis received the Soundtrack Award, while Rodriguez was awarded the Star of Texas Award (a timely delivery, given the premiere of From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series at SXSW on Saturday, March 8).
