Southwest expands nonstop flights from Austin to Cancun for summer 2018
More direct flights to Mexico are on the horizon for Austin travelers. Southwest will expand its nonstop service from Austin to Cancun for summer 2018.
On January 25, the beloved airline announced plans to add an additional Saturday nonstop flight from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport to Cancun International Airport during the peak travel months of June and July.
Southwest's existing seasonal Austin-Cancun route runs November through July and includes one daily nonstop flight each way. The new schedule — with two Saturday nonstop options — launches June 9, 2018.
The first Saturday flight will leave Austin at 7:55 am and arrive in Cancun at 10:25 am. The second Saturday flight departs Austin at 11:55 am and arrives in Cancun at 2:25 pm. Return flights are slated to depart Cancun at 11:20 am and 6:10 pm, landing in Austin at 1:55 pm and 8:45 pm, respectively. Sample fares for Saturday nonstop service in July 2018 run $183 to $230 each way.
Southwest has three other new nonstop routes in the works for Austin. Direct flights to San Francisco; Sacramento, California; and Indianapolis start in April.
