Pet Hotel
High-end pet hotel with luxury services proposed for Austin airport
Vacation should be a stress-free escape, but planning a few days off when you have a four-legged family member is no walk in the park. Wouldn't it be nice if you knew your pet would be taken care of while you were away — and waiting for you at the airport when you returned?
One contractor is working on making that a reality at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. According to FOX 7, an ABIA contractor is asking Austin City Council for rezoning around the airport to allow for a state-of-the-art pet hotel for travelers.
The City of Austin currently owns the property in question, which is situated at Highway 71 and Cardinal Loop. Scott Airport Parking, LLC won a bid for a contract with ABIA for parking and other airport facilities.
Part of the plan is an on-site pet hotel that would be open 24/7 with boarding services, play areas, valet parking and airport shuttle access. In order to create the perfect dog and cat facility, Scott Airport Parking is teaming up Doggy Play Day and Taurus Training.
"We'll have boarding, which will probably be the most popular service," Doggy Play Day and Taurus Training co-owner, Melanie McLeroy, told FOX 7. "We'll also have daycare out there for airport employees and people who commute into Austin that live out east."
Pending rezoning approval, the pet hotel will be a 13,000-square-foot pet oasis, ensuring your furry family enjoys a vacation, too.
