New nonstop flights from Austin to Portland take off this fall
Good news for those heading west: Alaska Airlines has announced plans for nonstop service from Austin to Portland, Oregon.
Daily nonstop service from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport to Portland International Airport starts November 5, 2015. Flights to Austin depart Portland at 9:50 am; flights to Portland depart Austin at 4:35 pm.
Passengers will travel on the new 76-seat Embraer 175 jet, which features 12 seats in first class and 64 seats in coach. Amenities include Wi-Fi access and streaming entertainment options. Bonus: Northwest microbrews and wine will be available for purchase.
"Year-round nonstop service to Portland is a prized route for Central Texas," said Jim Smith, executive director of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in a press release. "Whether for business or fun, the Portland-Austin connection is popular with our customers."
So popular, in fact, that Alaska Airlines isn't the only provider with direct flights along the route. Southwest Airlines reinstates seasonal daily nonstop service from Austin to Portland later this month. Tickets for Alaska Airlines' new route go on sale June 9.
