Inclusive Texas music festival for hearing impaired brings good vibes back for another year
An inclusive Texas music festival is bringing its good vibes back to San Antonio's Sunken Garden Theater for another year. In a press release, the second annual Good Vibrations Music & Arts Festival announced it was returning to Alamo City on September 29 for a day of family fun.
Hosted by Texas-based nonprofit Aid the Silent, the festival brings together both hearing impaired and hearing individuals to create a truly inclusive day for all. Big acts scheduled to perform include American Idol winner Kris Allen, Parachute, Penny & Sparrow, Willow City, Zoë Nutt, Ryan Scott Travis, Emma Faye Rudkin, Sarah Spivey, and Adopted Kids.
As part of the inclusive experience, the musicians will be accompanied on stage by sign language interpreters, and many of the performances will feature real-time captioning. Other cool amenities like a looping technology that transmits sound directly into hearing aid devices and wearable audio technology that turns sound into vibrations will be available throughout the day.
But the fun won't just be on the stage. Attendees can bust a move on the LED dance floor or watch as a sound wave board uses light to translate the musical notes into visual beats, virtually guaranteeing one heck of a dance party.
The day, which runs from 1-11 pm, will features local vendors, games, photo ops, work from local artisans, and food trucks, ensuring a day of fun for all.
Tickets for Good Vibrations Music & Arts Festival are on sale now, and priced at $45 in advance or $50 at the door. Group deals are also available in 4- and 20-pack options. Proceeds from the fest go to Aid the Silent, which provides resources and support to deaf and hard-of-hearing children and teens.
