14 Fredericksburg stays get cozy on first B&B and inns list by U.S. News
There's numerous beautiful hotels, retreats, and unique vacation homes spread out throughout the Hill Country, making it hard to decide which is the best accommodation for a fun getaway. A new list by U.S. News and World Report — the first in its category — has narrowed it down to 14 bed-and-breakfasts, inns, and small hotels in the popular town of Fredericksburg.
The inaugural "2024 Bed and Breakfast" rankings showcase over 250 special small lodgings from 17 attractive small cities and towns throughout the U.S. The rankings were determined based on each lodging's star ratings, annual rewards from travel publications, and TripAdvisor guest ratings.
The 14 top-rated Fredericksburg properties offer an extraordinary atmosphere, charming experiences, and most offer complimentary breakfast, a staple for any B&B.
Claiming the No. 1 spot as the best bread and breakfast in Fredericksburg is Hoffman Haus, a five-acre property tucked away on East Creek Street, less than a mile from the historic downtown Main Street. To provide a true B&B experience, this boutique hotel serves a chef-prepared breakfast in a picnic basket daily to each guest's room at 9 am.
"Travelers also appreciated how easy it was to walk from the B&B to the various shops, restaurants and tasting rooms nearby," the U.S. News profile says. "The property features an on-site spa cottage, where guests can book a relaxing massage, facial or body wrap."

About three miles south of downtown is the No. 2-ranking Cotton Gin Village. This adult-only property is the perfect escape for couples, boasting romantic wood-burning fireplaces, Jacuzzi tubs, an on-site restaurant, and an overall relaxing atmosphere. Similar to Hoffman Haus, daily picnic breakfasts are delivered to Cotton Gin Village guests at 9 am.
The cottages designed to evoke "a simpler time," with each featuring a tin roof, timber and stone walls, and homespun furniture. The cabins are described as original "rustic 1800s log structures" that were relocated to the village from Kentucky and Tennessee.
Guests who want to explore the village can visit one of the many fire pits located throughout the grounds, which are suitable for "a relaxing evening with a good book or good conversation with your partner or other guests," according to the village's profile.
Landing in No. 3 is Chuckwagon Inn Bed and Breakfast, located about three miles southwest from downtown Fredericksburg. This spacious property has five cozy guest houses spread across 5.5 acres of land, each uniquely decorated and named to add a little personality for guest stays.
"One of the guest houses, Miss Becky's Kitchen, features handcrafted light fixtures and hand-painted chicken artwork," the U.S. News profile says.
