For architecture lovers, it's truly the most wonderful time of the year. Now in its 31st year, the AIA Austin Homes Tour returns October 28-29 with 13 unique properties showcasing the best in residential design.
This year's participant list — which reads like a who's who of Austin architects — includes powerhouse firms like A Parallel Architecture, alterstudio architects, Matt Fajkus Architecture, Furman + Keil Architects, and Tim Cuppett Architects, just to name a few.
The self-guided tour, which runs Saturday and Sunday from 10 am-6 pm, offers participants a chance to stroll through the properties, and in some cases meet the architects themselves. This year's map is relatively centralized with houses in Central and West Austin, a departure from recent years when it also included projects east and north of downtown.
Tickets for the tour are $35 in advance or $40 on the day of the tour and can be purchased here or at these local spots: AIA Austin (801 W. 12th St.), Arete European Kitchens (700 N. Lamar Blvd.), Zinger Hardware (4001 N. Lamar Blvd.), Nannie Inez (701 S. Lamar Blvd.), NEST Modern (2603 S. Congress Ave.), or Articulture Designs (6405 Manchaca Rd).
