Pet of the Week
Meet APA's Joan Holloway the cat and her other friends in need
Before we get to this week's pet from Austin Pets Alive!, it's important to mention that the city shelter is filled right now, and in order to help keep Austin a "No-Kill City," the city is offering a "Free for Fall" adoption special at Austin Animal Center. The adoption fee will be waived through October 13 for all ready-to-go pets currently in shelter at the Animal Center and at the overflow kennels at the Town Lake Animal Center. They also ask that pet owners exhaust all options before dropping off a pet at the city shelter.
For this week, Austin Pets Alive! would like to feature another one of their senior pets, the very lovely Joan Holloway, who isn't quite as sassy as her counterpart on Mad Men.
APA! has plenty of senior pets looking for a good home to spend their golden years, and they also have a video to introduce you to their super senior cats, but let's get to know Joan first.
Name: Joan Holloway
Sex: Female
Adult size: Medium
Age: 10 years, 6 months
Sign: Aries
Spayed/neutered: Yes
Adoption donation: $25
Location: On site
Surprise fact: Joan loves to sit in laps and get her hair brushed.
What APA! says about Joan Holloway:
Joan loves to be petted, and will follow you around and rub against your legs as you walk by. She enjoys ear scratches and chin rubs, and prefers cuddles and naps to chasing strings and toys — although a laser pointer is a different story. She is a little lady who enjoys using her cardboard scratch pad to get her pedicure on.
Joan came in with a group of kitties that share a rough past, and she is ready for a new life in a loving home. She's very affectionate, but displays an independent streak — she snuggles with the other cats in her room, but enjoys alone time, too.
