Blanton Museum announces Molly Hasie Sherman as new Director of Development
The Blanton Museum at The University of Texas recently announced that Molly Hasie Sherman has been appointed as Director of Development, effective as of April 1.
Sherman will be joining the Blanton from Austin’s St. Andrews Episcopal School, where she has been the Director of Development for 17 years and raised over $60 million.
In a press release announcement, Sherman discusses her excitement as well as her commitment to championing arts and culture institutions:
“It is indeed a privilege for me to accept the position of Director of Development at The Blanton,” states Sherman. “After many years of working in an educational environment, I know firsthand the tremendous impact that art and culture can have on the lives of students and the greater community.”
“I feel very fortunate to add to The Blanton team such an exceptionally capable development professional,” states Blanton director Simone Wicha. “Molly’s strong ties to the Austin and Texas philanthropic communities will serve us well as we prepare for our 50th anniversary in 2013, and for a number of other significant new initiatives.”
Sherman is also no stranger to the UT campus, having received both her B.A. and M.B.A. from the University.
The museum currently has a few exhibits on display, including: American Scenery: Different Views in Hudson River School Painting (2/26 – 5/13) and Go West! Representations of the American Frontier (1/14 – 9/23) as well as a special installation, Passage, by artist Paul Villinski.
