Another victim of apparent hit and run killed in downtown Austin
Austinites woke up Sunday morning to news of another hit and run in downtown Austin.
A body was found lying on the northbound side of I-35 near East 11th Street in the early morning hours of August 10. The man, who the Austin Police Department says is in his 30s, was pronounced dead around 2 am.
Though authorities have few answers, the man is believed to be the victim of a hit and run. According to KXAN, police have yet to confirm the make, model or even color of the suspected vehicle. It is unclear why the man was on I-35 or if he was attempting to cross the highway.
The incident led to snarled traffic in downtown Austin as cars were forced off the highway and onto the feeder road, a scene eerily reminiscent to the death of local blogger Kelly Noel, who was struck and killed while crossing the North I-35 Frontage Road near East 11th Street in April. The highway has since been reopened.
