"Divide" and conquer: Sexy space fighter Michael Biehn commandeers the Alamo
He was the screaming commander of the doomed crew in Aliens. He was the lucky soldier who came back from the future to impregnate Linda Hamilton in The Terminator. And now the much-loved action star Michael Biehn is coming to the Alamo to promote his new post-apocalyptic blockbuster, The Divide.
To honor the genre fan favorite for his three proud decades of film contributions, the Alamo is hosting the actor (whose abs are still rock hard) at two special screenings that span his ass-kicking career. At 7 p.m., Cpl. Dwayne Hicks himself will be in attendance at South Lamar to watch Aliens with you and answer all your questions about facehuggers, alien saliva and Sigourney Weaver. And you know you've got 'em.
Then at 10:30 p.m., the Alamo is premiering Biehn's tense new thriller, The Divide, which is garnering a heap of attention because of the amazing cast and the intense storyline. After nuclear war claims the surface of the Earth, virtual strangers are trapped in a fallout shelter below their apartment building, and, of course, claustrophobia and paranoia starts to unravel the few survivors. Besides the amazing Biehn, the cast includes Rosanna Arquette (Pulp Fiction), Lauren German (Hostel II) and Milo Ventimiglia (Heroes), who put themselves through hell filming this very raw vision of the end of days.
The Divide is returning to Austin after its initial screening at SXSW. According to the Alamo, Divide director Xavier Gens, known for his films Hitman and Frontier(s), "comes from the school of excessively intense French horror filmmaking," which is right up the Alamo's horror-loving alley. Just watching the trailer, you can tell this is not a movie for wusses.
Tickets are going fast for these high-profile evenings, and those fanboys will not be stopped when their heroes appear live and in person. See what all the fuss is about this Saturday night, and remember what action/horror/sci-fi is really about when you let a real man do it.
