THE SESSIONS' INSIDE TRACKS
Electrically charged and musically gifted: Exclusive new music from Matt TheElectrician
Finding a venue to capture the folksy sound of Matt The Electrician was definitely a no-brainer. Tucked away on the ground floor of the Moonshine Patio Bar & Grill is the makeshift stage that fits this musician perfectly. The wooden, earthy space was the quintessential place to film this Key Session of “Accidental Thief.” Sitting on the bar, Matt Severs sings to a few guests as his voice resonates through the dimly lit, rumored to be haunted, wine cellar.
Matt Sever’s back story is a unique one to say the least. Employed as an electrician by day and moonlighting as a musician by night, Matt worked his way into the jungle of the Austin music scene. Releasing his first full length album, Home, in 1999 it’s apparent he is here to stay. Ten years and multiple records later, he teamed up with Austin’s The House of Songs and was invited in 2010 to be a part of The Nordic Cowriters workshop in Denmark. It was there that Matt co-wrote five songs on his latest album, Accidental Thief.
Severs leaves for a European at the end of April, but you can mark your calendars for his next Austin performance on Saturday, July 14 at the Wyldwood Shows. You have to see him perform live at least once in your life — everyone needs a good electrician, right?
