X Games Guide
Your guide to all the extreme fun of X Games Austin 2016
This year marks the third and final X Games in Austin. The extreme sports competition and festival rolls into town June 2-5. We've combed through the stacked schedule to pick out the best showcases and performances to check out each day, ensuring a well-rounded experience at Circuit of The Americas.
Thursday, June 2
Start the thrilling weekend off with something loud at Thursday evening's free event. We suggest Flat-Track Racing at 9 pm — motorcycles and dirt always make for a great time. Afterwards, catch Reverend Horton Heat's set at Austin360 Amphitheater.
Friday, June 3
It's Friday. Let's assume that, like most Austinites, you'll have to work. As long as you can get off a little early and get to the track by 6 pm for the Moto X Freestyle Final — this event is like break dancing on bikes — you can consider your night a win.
As far as music goes, rappers Logic and G-Eazy take the 360 stage at 10 pm.
Saturday, June 4
Begin the first full day of X Games with the Skateboard Street Women's Final competition at 11 am. Following that, swing by the Big Air/Park area to see the BMX Best Trick Final at 2:10 pm. Your favorite riders will compete to see who can pull off the best death-defying acrobatics.
While you're there, check out all of the fun festivities peppered throughout the COTA grounds. There are six villages (including the tasty Torchy's Tacos Playground) featuring games, food, giveaways, autograph signings, and more.
Blink-182 is your headliner for the night, with fellow rock band All Time Low as the opening act at 10 pm. Both bands will take you back to your punk-pop days.
Sunday, June 5
Yes, it's the last day of the festival, and you'll probably be tired, but you'll want to get to COTA by 11 am to catch the Big Air Doubles Final. Head to Big Air (the massive ramp) to see a combination of skateboard and BMX contestants launching themselves into space.
The Skateboard Park Men's Final is at 2:30 pm; you can catch impressive tricks while enjoying the shade of the stadium seating. If you're not totally beat, check out the Moto X Best Whip and QuarterPipe Final at 4 pm, and congratulate yourself on a strong X Games Austin finish.
