SXSWhoa baby!
SXSW adds more Hollywood celebs and tech giants to 2019 lineup
SXSW is looking more like SXSWest Coast, as the homegrown festival continues to add more celebrities to its 2019 programming. On November 27, the Austin-based event announced an additional keynote and 13 new featured speakers, including Trevor Noah, Elizabeth Moss, and Kevin Hart.
When the 10-day fest returns to Austin March 8-17, 2019, it brings with it an all-star lineup. Jessica Brillhart, a pioneer in virtual reality filmmaking, has been added to next year's keynote speakers.
The former Google exec, who left the tech giant last year to open her own "immersive content studio," joins Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom; Josh Constine, editor-at-large for TechCrunch; Chrvches frontwoman Lauren Mayberry; writer, producer, and director Marti Noxon; and Garbage singer/fashion icon Shirley Manson among next year's Keynotes.
Meanwhile, SXSW 2019's featured speakers lineup is now reading like a hipper version of US Weekly. The Daily Show host Trevor Noah, actress and writer Busy Philipps, The Handmaid's Tale's Elisabeth Moss, comedian Kevin Hart, former N*SYNC member Lance Bass, musician/activist Laura Jane Grace, and best-selling author and researcher Brené Brown are among the blockbuster names slated to appear.
Clovyr co-founder Amber Baldet; puppeteer, director, and producer Frank Oz; Backstage Capital founder Arlan Hamilton; philosopher and writer Jaron Lanier; and GSD&M chairman and co-founder Roy Spence are also among the newly revealed names.
Though still months away, this is the third teaser issued by SXSW over the past few months. Badges for the festival, which is split into Interactive, Film, Music, and Convergence tracks, are on sale now. Platinum badges, which grant access to all programming, are on sale for $1350. Individual track badges begin at $1025.
