Bright Light Social Hour and Riders Against The Storm play Parish, plus more late September shows to see
It’s consistently a few degrees cooler than it has been in some time, and ACL is just around the corner. If there was ever a time to get out for some local shows, it’s now. Here’s a few you should consider in the back half of September.
Spray Paint at Hotel Vegas / Chess Club – September 21-22
Post punk act Spray Paint have returned to action, and you’ve got two chances to see them this week. The first is at Hotel Vegas with Porcelain, Discreet, and Gutter on Wednesday, September 21, and the second is at Chess Club with Screensaver, and Michael C. Sharp on Thursday, September 22. Each show is $10.
Martin at the Mohawk – Thursday, September 22
Charlie Martin, who’s one half of the indie pop duo Hovvdy, will be live on the indoor stage at the Mohawk this Thursday, September 22. Skirts and Fishplates round out the bill. Tickets for the show are $15. By the way, Martin has a deluxe edition of his recent solo album, Imaginary People, coming out on October 7.
Night Cap at Cheer Up Charlies – Friday, September 23
Head to Cheer Up Charlies this Friday, September 23, to catch Night Cap. The rockers will be joined by Shooks, Baldie Loxx, and DJ Paris Aden. Adding to the fun here is Flora & Fawna, who will be celebrating the release of a new single, “Never Mine.” Tickets are $10.
Blushing at Chess Club – Saturday, September 24
Shoegaze extraordinaries Blushing can be found at Chess Club this Saturday, September 24. The Pinky Rings and Bleach Burn are also on the bill. Tickets for the show at $10. If you haven’t already, spend some time with Blushing’s 2022 album, Possessions.
Tearjerk at Chess Club – Thursday, September 29
Swing by Chess Club on Thursday, September 29 to see dream folk act Tearjerk, who will be ringing in the arrival of her new single, “Many Hours.” Pelvis Wrestley and Redbud will perform as well. Tickets are $10.
Bright Light Social Hour & Riders Against The Storm at the Parish – Friday, September 30
The Parish is all set to host two great Austin vets - The Bright Light Social Hour and Riders Against The Storm – on Friday, September 30. Tickets for the show are $25. While you’re at it, seek out The Bright Light Social Hour’s brand new single, “The Sheriff."
