Texas clothing company sets new standard for Lone Star pride
Texas proud? Drew and Christine Bagot of Dallas are, which is precisely why they launched Texas Standard, a brand-new clothing company “built on the values synonymous with the state it calls home: independence, tradition, and pride.”
“We were frustrated that there wasn’t a brand that represented who we are and where we’re from,” says Drew. “We asked ourselves, ‘Why not us?’ and decided to lead the charge.”
Drawing from Drew’s background in the apparel industry and the couple’s shared affinity for art and design, the Bagots got to work.
Years in the making, the line focuses on menswear essentials — button-ups, polos, pocket tees, et. al — and accessories. Clothes are 100 percent Texas designed and sport the Texas Standard logo, a nod to the barbed wire used on ranches since the early days of the state. The aesthetic, Christine says, is “timeless” and “classic.”
“It’s about bringing home the diverse perspectives that comprise Texas,” she says. “Texas has mountains and beaches, cities and ranches. Our vision is to cultivate style that feels at home—no matter where you are.”
Their vision also includes plans to give back to the Lone Star State, and strengthen future generations of Texans through an initiative they’ve dubbed Ten to Texas. Ten percent of all Texas Standard profits are donated to partner charities including Feeding Texas, Texas CASA, Habitat for Humanity Texas, and the Texas Parks & Wildlife Foundation.
“It was important that our company have a larger purpose,” says Christine. “Our long-term goals are to add to the list of charities and develop volunteer events for the company and our customers.”
