Austin-based brand Understated Leather may be understated, but the enthusiasm of its fan base certainly is not. Despite a cult celebrity following, from Beyoncé and Lady Gaga to January Jones and Ryan Gosling, some of the homegrown brand's biggest fans are right here in Austin. Now, those local fans will have a chance to shop the brands first annual warehouse sale, coming up this weekend on Saturday, November 19.

Founded by Australian designer Jennifer Kassell, the brand originally grew out of Kassell's desire to forge her own path in the fashion industry after several years in New York and Los Angeles. Kassell started out with leather-engraved denim jackets, growing her business on Instagram and by word-of-mouth.

According to the brand's website, Kassell "fuses her Australian roots with her Texan lifestyle" to create "a refreshing and relatable Aussie-Americana vibe," placing the focus on the wearer rather than on overstated accents common in other high-end lines. Ironically, this unpretentious approach is likely the exact quality that garnered such demand for the simple but elegant collections of suede, denim, and leather.

Replacing the smaller-scale sample sales of previous years, this first annual warehouse sale will feature selections from the brand's signature lines, as well as the largest collection of menswear yet. With prices starting at just $5 and nothing priced over $195, the event makes a strong case for an early Saturday wakeup call with ample time to get caffeinated and well-fed before the bargain hunting begins at 11 am.

Taking place at Lone Star Light House Studio (701 Tillery St.), the sale will run until 4 pm, but given the high demand and low prices, the best items could very well be gone well before closing. Thankfully, other local favorites will be on hand throughout the day, including Elle’s Boutique, ByGeorge, Ranch Road Boots, and Cookie Rich.
