Affordable Austin Living
Our 5 favorite affordable Austin homes on the market right now
Editor's note: Most of these homes have pending offers since the publishing of this story, proving just how competitive the current Austin market is.
Austin homes are selling like hotcakes, and with record-breaking sales in 2015, it’s nearly impossible to find affordable real estate in the city. We set out to find affordable, move-in ready homes to prove that there are still some inexpensive options left in Austin.
What we found was that unless you’re shopping for condos, it’s extremely difficult to find any housing under $250,000 in Central Austin. While affordable options are limited, they do still exist. After talking with several real estate agents in the city, it seems that most homes priced around $200,000 or less are sold in a matter of days, making the house hunt even more competitive.
“The Austin market has heated up considerably over the last several years. Sometimes it’s challenging to find your dream home under $225,000. Just ask most buyers out looking for homes,” says Amy Whitston, agent with Reilly Realtors. “Rest assured. There are clients of all price points and there’s a house for everyone.”
Here are our five favorite affordable homes available in the Austin area.
