Opening Alert
Uchi team finally reveals details for hotly anticipated Austin restaurant
The wait is finally over. After teasing the concept a year ago, Hai Hospitality, formerly known as Uchi Restaurant Group, has revealed the name of its newest Austin eatery.
From celebrated chef Tyson Cole comes Loro, a casual Asian smokehouse specializing in grilled and smoked meats. Located at 2115 S. Lamar Blvd. near the intersection of Oltorf Street, this hotly anticipated restaurant will also feature a full bar with cocktails, beer, and wine. There'll be a tree-shaded patio too.
"Loro gives our group a chance to [expand] on fare that we hint at on our specials at Uchi," says Cole in a statement. "The space will be airy and inviting, the indoors and outdoors will feel very connected; guests order at the bar and the vibe will be comfortable and casual."
Loro makes for the sixth concept under the Hai Hospitality umbrella. The company currently operates three Uchi locations, plus Uchiko in Austin and Top Knot in Dallas. The group's first foray outside Asian cuisine, Austin's St. Philip Pizza Parlor, abruptly closed in 2015.
More information about Loro, including team announcements, design details, and menus, will be revealed out in the coming weeks. Look for Loro's opening in the fall of this year.
