5-Star Stunner

Swanky Texas Hill Country oasis named the only 5-star restaurant in the state

Austin, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio restaurants often garner top rankings and land on "best of" lists, but only one Texas restaurant has been deemed worthy of 5-stars by the exclusive Forbes Travel Guide. Released annually, the prestigious list critiques the world's best hotels, restaurants and spas based on 5- and 4-star rankings.

The Inn at Dos Brisas, a swanky resort located about halfway between Austin and Houston, was the only Texas establishment in any category to land five stars.

"We are thrilled," said Inn at Dos Brisas' Managing Director Steve Shotsberger in a press release. "We look forward to continuing to provide our guests with exceptional farm-to-table cuisine with the introduction of our new five-course chef tasting menus."

The inn recently announced it was transitioning to an all-inclusive resort, offering guests breakfast, lunch and a five-course chef tasting menu for dinner. In addition to thoughtful menus and impeccable service, many of the restaurant's ingredients are sourced directly from the property. A 42-acre USDA-certified organic farm and on-site greenhouse are responsible for producing 400 different varieties of herbs, fruits and vegetables that go directly from field to plate.

Not to be outdone, the hotel itself received a 4-star ranking from Forbes. This posh 313-acre resort's capacity is 28 guests. A stay at Dos Brisas includes such amenities as cooking classes, farm tours, horseback riding lessons and clay shooting in addition to spa services and wine tastings.

All-inclusive rates begin at $1,069 per night for "casita" accommodations and $1,399 per night for "hacienda" accommodations.
