Iconic Sixth Street nightclub sparks up new CBD shop with baked goods and more

Since 1991, Flamingo Cantina has been an oasis away from the madness of Sixth Street, hosting a lineup of what they call “good vibes music” — a mixture of reggae, ska, Latin, and world beat. Now, it's looking to keep the groove going with a new “CBD bodega,” which debuted on March 7.
Located in front of the bar at 515 E. Sixth St., Flamingo Hemp is part smoke shop and part coffee bar. According to a release, the shop is a natural extension of the club’s cannabis advocacy, including a longstanding relationship with the Texas chapter of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws.
According to a release, the store carries a wide variety of hemp products ranging from CBD oils and salves to vape cartridges and coconut oil supplements. Typical smoke shop offerings and tobacco are also available.
To ensure quality, Flamingo has partnered with a Colorado-based organic hemp farm to make Flamingo-branded products. None of the products contain additives or pesticides, and each contains less than 3 percent THC. The release boasts that the shop can issue a certificate of analysis to that effect.
In addition to all the CBD products, the shop also sells CBD-infused baked goods from local caterer and wholesaler Keep Austin Baked. Treats include blueberry lemon scones, chocolate chip cookies, lollipops, and chocolate-covered espresso bean clusters.
If guests want to get extra amped, Flamingo Hemp also offers a full line of coffee drinks, including espresso and cappuccino. All that caffeine should come in handy during SXSW as the Cantina hosts a full slate of art activations, cannabis panels, and, of course, plenty of live music.
