Farewell Finn & Porter
Another Austin fine-dining restaurant says farewell
Austin restaurants are closing left and right. The latest is Finn & Porter. Despite its almost 12-year tenure at the Hilton Austin, the restaurant has decided to close its doors.
The fine-dining establishment, known for American-style cuisine, seafood, and its award-winning steaks and wine list, will no longer be as of Saturday, April 2.
“After 11-plus years of providing one of the city’s top fine-dining experiences, it’s a bittersweet farewell to Finn & Porter. The restaurant had a fantastic run, all while watching so many changes downtown,” said Robert Watson, general manager of Hilton Austin, in the announcement. “Now, it’s our turn to evolve.”
Let’s do a quick recap. In 2016 alone, Austin has seen the shutter of laV, Mettle, Arro, and Gardner, while the iconic Cisco’s recently went up for sale. Now, it’s Finn & Porter’s turn to take a bow.
Finn & Porter is inviting guests in for one last hurrah prior to its closure. Diners will receive a complimentary Champagne toast with each meal, and Chef Peter Maffei — who will remain at Hilton Austin — has added several “throwback” menu items to commemorate the closing. Guests are also encouraged to share memories or messages of goodbye on the restaurant’s tribute wall.
Hilton Austin says that it will release more details on the new concept and plans following SXSW.
