One food expert has declared a favorite Austin breakfast taco the best — ever. Alton Brown took to Twitter to profess his love for Veracruz All Natural's migas taco on a recent visit to Austin.
"Best breakfast taco I've EVER had," said the celebrity chef, television host, and author, who was in Austin on Friday, April 28, for a tour stop at ACL Live.
The taco consists of a house-made tortilla, scrambled eggs, crisp vegetables, rich cheese, and a slice of avocado for $3. It has received accolades from the likes of Texas Monthly, Food Network, and Bon Appétit, to name a few.
Veracruz All Natural has experienced serious growth since launching in 2009. What began as a simple juice and smoothie operation by owners Maritza and Reyna Vasquez has evolved into a multi-trailer business with two outposts, one on the east side and one in South Austin, and a successful Round Rock restaurant. The team is also in the process of opening a North Austin restaurant in May.
During his Austin stay, Brown also swung by Fleet Coffee Co. for a macchiato and Bufalina for pizza. The chef is eating his way across the country in support of Eat Your Science, an acclaimed stage show that combines culinary science with Brown's brand of humor.
Catch Brown on Food Network's Cutthroat Kitchen and the new Iron Chef Gauntlet. A follow-up to his beloved series, Good Eats, will be released on the web later this year.
