Popular Austin brewpub takes pizza and craft beer to the 'burbs

Round Rock is hot with new restaurants. The Austin 'burb has already scored Veracruz All Natural, Salt Traders Coastal Cooking, and PS 35, and now another local heavyweight is entering the fray. Pinthouse Pizza plans to open its third brewpub in Round Rock, promising the same great menu with a new selection of hobby craft beer.
"We've been considering Round Rock for a third location for the last year or two. We have a lot of guests and team members who live up near Round Rock, and we’re constantly getting asked about the market. When the opportunity was presented to be co-located with other food concepts we respect, we were excited about the potential for the area," owner/operator Tyler Norwood tells CultureMap.
Like the other two locations, the beer lineup will be unique to Round Rock. The original brewery on Burnet Road, which opened 2012, served as a testing ground for the beers that would eventually become the mainstays of the South Lamar Boulevard spot when it debuted in 2015.
"Although we may occasionally take a beer from Burnet or Lamar up to Round Rock (and vice versa), the majority of the beers at Round Rock will be exclusively brewed onsite and unique to the Round Rock location. It is important for us for each pub to be unique, both to keep it exciting and challenging for our team, as well as to provide a fresh and evolving experience for our guests," says Norwood.
The Round Rock spot will be built from the ground up. This freedom allows the Pinthouse crew to "maximize the space, customize the building and layout to our needs, and hopefully provide a very unique experience to our guests," says Norwood. "It should be a really fun space, and we're pretty stoked about the early design concepts."
Look for Pinthouse Pizza off Hoppe Trail near the intersection of I-35 and Old Settler's Boulevard. It will be located near Jack Allen’s Kitchen, Salt Traders, Hopdoddy, and Cover 3. The team is eyeing a 2018 opening.
