Wakey, wakey
Popular breakfast chain wakes up Cedar Park with newest location
A sunny new eatery will soon be serving omelets, pancakes, and quinoa bowls north of Austin. A rep has confirmed that a fourth location of breakfast and lunch restaurant First Watch is opening at 1306 Whitestone Blvd., Ste. 600 in Cedar Park on July 29.
The Florida-based chain has rapidly grown since opening a trio of cafes in the Austin area in 2017. The new location will be the first for Cedar Park.
Though it has focused its efforts on underserved areas instead of the city core, First Watch is similar in concept to the wildly popular Snooze. Open only in the daytime hours, it serves a variety of breakfast and brunch options like diner style bacon and egg plates, sweet favorites like waffles and pancakes, breakfast tacos and sandwiches, and lighter options like coconut milk chia seed pudding.
Unlike the all-brunch Snooze, First Watch has a greater emphasis on lunch items. The chain offers deli sandwiches such as BLTs with fried eggs, roast beef and Havarti, and chicken salad melts. Salads range from a classic Cobb to a superfood kale salad loaded with chicken breast, dried cranberries, slivered almonds, and shredded Parmesan.
The locations also boast a fresh juice bar, sourcing from local farms whenever possible. In addition to orange juice, guests can sip on the Morning Meditation with orange, lemon, turmeric, ginger, agave nectar, and beet or a kale tonic with Fuji apple, cucumber, and lemon.
Although traditionally First Watch has not served alcohol, the chain increasingly has been offering it at newer locations beginning in 2018, adding Bloody Marys, beer, and wine. It’s unclear whether the Cedar Park outpost will have any booze.
However, another local location appears to be getting in on the fun. The chain has applied for a mixed beverage permit at 4815 W. Braker Ln., Ste. 1110, according to a public notice. Although the rep was not able to confirm that location, CultureMap has contacted the company for more information.
