New Entertainment Hub
Austin's Mueller district hosts grand opening of new entertainment hub

The debut of an art installation featuring brightly colored umbrellas will be among the highlights of the grand opening event Thursday, September 14, for the evolving Aldrich Street “lifestyle” hub at Austin’s massive Mueller development.
The free celebration and street fair, which are open to the public, will run 7-10 pm. Activities will include live music, food and beer sampling, henna tattooing, dominoes, ladder ball, a ring toss, and prize giveaways.
“Over the past several months, restaurants and retailers have been springing up in Mueller’s dining and entertainment district, and there are quite a few scheduled to open soon, so we’re hosting this celebration to kick off the official opening,” Catellus, developer of Mueller, says in promoting the Aldrich Street grand opening.
Alamo Drafthouse Cinema and The Thinkery children’s museum anchor the 42-acre Aldrich Street district, a 1.2-million-square-foot project that, when completed, will comprise restaurants, retail shops, entertainment spots, cultural destinations, apartments, condos, a hotel, two parks, and several workplaces.
Here are the eateries that already are open in the Aldrich Street district or are set to open soon: B.D. Riley’s Irish Pub, J.T. Youngblood’s Fried Chicken, Lick Honest Ice Creams, Bribery Bakery, WhichCraft Bottle Shop and Tap Room, L’Oca D’Oro, Kyoten Sushiko, Stella Public House, Halcyon Coffee + Bar + Lounge, Colleen’s Kitchen, and Bao’d Up. A Kerbey Lane Cafe will open in fall 2018.
Among the workplaces on tap for Aldrich Street are the new headquarters of Texas Mutual Insurance Co. and new local offices for engineering firm Stantec.
Mueller is a 700-acre, master-planned community that occupies the site of Austin’s former airport.
