Another One Down
Longtime East Austin dive bar mysteriously shutters

Longbranch Inn — the East Austin watering hole with history dating back to the 1930s — has closed.
A notice to vacate from Travis County was posted on the door of the East 11th Street bar on Friday, September 23, although local Reddit users say the bar may have been closed for over a month. As of Tuesday afternoon, the notice had been ripped down from the building.
According to an open record obtained through Travis County, property owner HPJ Properties requested an eviction. The default judgment from September 12 awards the landlord $9,360 to be paid by Jim Stockbauer. The last day to appeal was September 19. Stockbauer's public LinkedIn profile, however, states that he owned Longbranch Inn (and Freedmen's Bar in West Campus) from 2003-2015.
Longbranch Inn is also listed on TABC's most recent Credit Law Delinquent List, meaning the establishment owes money to an alcohol distributor. The owner of the bar is listed as Club Seal Productions LLC, which is headquartered at the same address as the bar.
The phone number associated with Longbranch Inn is no longer in operation. CultureMap's attempts to contact bar management for comment have not been returned.
