Les Dames d’Escoffier auctions off food fantasies during Food Fight onlinefundraiser
Despite the rowdy moniker, Food Fight is not so much a baked goods brawl as it is an online fundraiser for nonprofit Les Dames d’ Escoffier (LDEI), running October 8 - 19.
LDEI, "an invitational organization of women leaders in food, beverage and hospitality whose mission is education, advocacy and philanthropy," hopes to entice as many food lovers as possible to participate in the 12-day digital charity auction for culinary scholarships and garden-to-plate initiatives. Proceeds of the auction go to Austin's LDEI chapter and will fund yearly scholarships for women vying for a professional position within culinary arts.
So what's at stake? Participants in the 4th Annual Food Fight auction will “fight” for Austin-centric prizes like:
- Canning classes with totally jammin' Stephanie McClenny, owner of the award-winning preserves company Confituras
- A tour of the East Side Urban Farm and dinner with Chef Sonya Cote of East Side Show Room, Hillside Farmacy and The Homegrown Revival
- A cupcake sampler from Sugar Mama’s, Polkadots, The Steeping Room, Delish and Hey Cupcake
- An autographed copy of ‘The Wisdom of the Chinese Kitchen’ and favorite kitchen goodies of author Grace Young
Whatever your strategy for winning the auction items of your choice, you've got a few days left to pinch pennies, so start saving now.
Proceeds of the auction go to Les Dames d’ Escoffier, and will be used to fund yearly scholarships for young women hoping to become future culinary arts professionals.
