Top 10 Austin watch parties for election day 2016
Tuesday, November 8, marks the end of what has been a very long and tumultuous election cycle — we could all use a drink. Here are the top 10 non-partisan parties in Austin for drinking and watching the results of the 2016 presidential election roll in.
3Ten at ACL Live
The massive 20-foot LED wall is enough of a reason to pick 3Ten for all of your viewing needs, but this intimate new bar and venue is also offering drink specials and food from the neighboring W Austin hotel. Doors are at 6 pm, and the live stream starts at 7 pm.
Alamo Drafthouse
Wrap up this blockbuster election season with Alamo Drafthouse. Polling news will light up multiple screens at the Lakeline, South Lamar, Village, and Slaughter Lane locations starting at 6:55 pm. Tickets are $5 each.
Black Star Co-op and Brewery
You're invited to Black Star from 6-11 pm for craft beer, tasty food, and election results. The details of this event are still being ironed out, but it's a guaranteed good time.
Cap City Comedy Club
Punch, one of the city's best comedy showcases, is bringing in big-name local talent like Chris Cubas, Danny Palumbo, Mike McRae, and more to provide commentary as the results trickle in. There's a reason why this election-day edition is called "Punch Roasts America." Show starts at 8 pm; tickets are $7.
Cheer Up Charlies
The Human Rights Campaign and Equality Texas are hosting a funky little event from 6 pm to close with drink specials and more. Live DJ sets will keep the party going.
Infinite Monkey Theorem
Best Practice Media hosts a watch party at this urban winery, with wine on tap, bites from Pranom, and photos courtesy of Kandid.ly. There will be plenty of political props on hand, so come dressed in your best stars and stripes.
Justine's Brasserie
Enjoy free chicken wings and "enough liquor to float the Electoral College" at Justine's watch party. This east side eatery is breaking out the big-screen from 7:30 pm to 2 am.
The Mohawk
A unique version of Mohawk's weekly bring-your-own-vinyl night promises cheap booze, patriotic tunes, and three screens to watch election day news. Doors open at 5 pm, and the party goes till 2 am.
The North Door
We Are Blood, formerly the Blood Center of Central Texas, is hosting a get together at North Door from 6-11 pm, where you can take it all in on a 25-foot screen. The event poster has a wonderful message: "This election has been crazy. But it's okay Austin. We're still family."
Rain
Watch the election results — from City Hall to the White House — roll in at this Warehouse District Club. The party runs from 6 pm to 2 am.
