What's Cooking Downtown
Brand-new bistro from Austin all-stars slated for bustling downtown corner
We haven't quite wrapped 2015, but opening announcements for the new year are surfacing — and one local hospitality group is on a roll.
In addition to recent revelations of more Sway locations and two new Italian eateries on the east side, the New Waterloo group has announced plans to open a French bistro downtown. Chez Nada, slated to open in late 2016, will be nestled in the Northshore mixed-used development in the 2nd Street District.
Chez Nada is a French bakery and brasserie concept that will serve everything from coffee and pastries to regional French classics and Franco-American favorites. The restaurant will include outdoor seating on Second Street, an open dining room, bar area, and bakery that can be used as a private event space.
"Chez Nada is a restaurant that we've been looking forward to opening for a very long time," New Waterloo partner Jesse Herman said in a release. "We always thought that a big, bustling French brasserie would be something really exciting for downtown Austin."
The new Northshore complex is located on the corner of San Antonio and West Second streets. The 38-story development will offer 439 luxury residential units with one-, two-, and three-bedroom residencies. The building will also feature an expansive pool deck overlooking Lady Bird Lake, a first-class fitness center, and resident lounge.
Chez Nada will be located among the 28,000 square feet of ground-floor storefronts. While the Northshore tower has already joined Austin's skyline (the building topped out in September), construction isn't expected to be completed until early next year.
