Armstrong Scandal Rides On
Her favorite mistake? New book claims Sheryl Crow witnessed Lance Armstrong doping
We don't know if it was her favorite mistake, but a new book from two Wall Street Journal reporters reveals that Sheryl Crow witnessed Lance Armstrong doping during their two-year relationship (and brief engagement).
According to The Guardian, Wheelmen: Lance Armstrong, the Tour de France and the Greatest Sports Conspiracy Ever claims that Armstrong had a blood transfusion in front of his then-girlfriend during a flight on his private airplane. For Crow, it was hard to make a stand after Armstrong told her that it was just part of the sport.
Every day proved to be a winding road with Armstrong, and the couple's relationship ended in 2006 when it was revealed that he was just not strong enough to be her man. In 2011, Crow was forced to testify after the Food and Drug Administration launched a criminal probe into Armstrong's doping allegations. While she initially didn't want to testify for fear of implicating herself, prosecutors eventually convinced her that a change would do her good, and she testified in exchange for protection from criminal prosecution.
Today, Crow soaks up the sun alongside her two adopted sons on her Nashville estate.
