Speaks her mind
Texas' legendary quarterback Colt McCoy is back on his old stomping grounds in Austin these days running workouts for the Cleveland Browns, and he brought his lovely wife along.
We haven't heard much from — or really about — Rachel McCoy, but that changed Tuesday when the new NFL wife called into an ESPN radio show to discuss college boosters, illegal recruiting and what her husband's experience was like as a player at Texas.
Cowherd, who hosts ESPN's The Herd, has said much about college football's booster culture and the long-term implications for the athletic programs at schools — like USC — found guilty of violations.
McCoy spoke for nearly six minutes about her husband's experience being offered "a dinner here, a fishing trip there," and the culture of respect that permeates the South and may have made some players more receptive to accepting gifts from adults that violate NCAA rules. Some sports bloggers wonder if she didn't throw UT under the bus for an investigation.
But perhaps more interesting than McCoy's remarks is the fact that they were reportedly unsolicited.
