Low-cost airline celebrates 14 new nonstop flights from Austin with $29 fares
Following a February 8 announcement that it will be adding 14 more nonstop flights from Austin, Frontier Airlines soon will be the second largest carrier at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in terms of the number of cities served. Once the new routes take off, Frontier will offer service to a total of 30 cities from ABIA.
The 14 new nonstop destinations being added by Frontier are:
- Albuquerque, New Mexico
- Buffalo, New York
- Charleston, South Carolina
- Detroit
- Indianapolis
- Jacksonville, Florida
- Milwaukee
- Minneapolis-St. Paul
- Omaha, Nebraska
- Portland, Oregon
- Providence, Rhode Island
- Reno, Nevada
- Seattle
- Tampa, Florida
Half of those cities are new nonstop destinations for ABIA: Buffalo, Charleston, Jacksonville, Milwaukee, Omaha, Providence, and Reno.
With the ramp-up of Frontier’s presence at ABIA, the Denver-based airline will become the second biggest carrier behind No. 1 Southwest Airlines. Dallas-based Southwest serves 36 nonstop destinations from Austin.
“By nearly doubling their service again this year, Frontier’s robust growth adds to the economic vitality of Austin and Central Texas,” Jim Smith, executive director of ABIA, says in a release.
To kick off the new routes, Frontier launched a sale with one-way fares as low as $29. The sale ends February 12, and travel dates stretch from early April through early August, depending on when the new routes start. Frontier will begin rolling out the new ABIA routes in April.
