An Austin hotel known for its vibrant public spaces is undergoing a rebrand to more fully merge with its parent group's larger portfolio. Formerly known as Downright Austin, a Renaissance Hotel, the property is now known as the Renaissance Austin Downtown Hotel.
Though to many travelers this represents a change in name only, it also comes with new programming. The rebrand additionally places a heavier emphasis on business accommodations.
"Downright Austin has always embodied the spirit of Renaissance Hotels, and unveiling this new identity allows us to fully bring that to life," said general manager Neville Erasmus in a press release. "We’re creating a hotel experience that feels connected to the energy of Austin — where guests can explore, and where meetings become more than just time spent in a room."
Many Austinites who have visited Downright Austin since it opened in 2024 have stopped by Swim Club, the unique bar and restaurant in an empty and very colorful pool. The aesthetic extends out to the patio and active swimming pool, where visitors gather for parties, pop-ups, and other events. Visitors to the hotel can also dine in at the Terrace Bar & Grill, Morningbird Café, and in their guest rooms.
Now locals downtown can add Rodeo Room Sessions to their social calendars. A press release tells of "live music, comedy, and culturally inspired events" to come, all hosted in the small event space that leads into Swim Club. The series launches June 25 with a comedy night featuring Austin standup comic Evan Lopez. Other sessions are scheduled for July 23 and August 27.
Business travelers can now try more Renaissance experiences in Austin, including enhanced "Ren Meetings" with food, dining, and other hosted experiences to make the occasion more memorable; "Evenings at Renaissance" for curated social experiences each night; and "Navigator Programming" to help visitors get to know the city and maximize their time out and about.
To celebrate the transition, the hotel is offering $50 in dining credits for stays from now through September 30, 2026. To claim the credits, guests should use the code EAT when checking out online.
