How do you like them apples? In just three years since launching, Austin Eastciders is opening a second cidery on Friday, July 1, to accommodate its rapid growth.

The new facility at 4007 Commercial Center Dr. — near the intersection of I-35 and 71 — has 33,000 square feet of space and the capacity to pump out 140,000 barrels of cider per year. The southeast spot will become the company's headquarters, while the original East Austin cidery on Springdale Road will transition into a home base for the research and development arm of the company.

In addition to its unique dry flavor profile, Austin Eastciders' recent success is a result of expanded distribution around Texas and in Oklahoma, New York, and New Jersey.

"We have produced 186,000 cases of cider, which translates into 132,000 barrels, since 2013, and the opening of our cidery will allow us to continue to meet the growing demand for our craft ciders," says CEO Johnny Heiselberg, who joined the company last year.

This summer has already been a busy one for Austin Eastciders. In addition to opening the new cidery, the brand has debuted a pineapple cider to its lineup of original dry, Texas honey, and hopped ciders. While these core flavors are currently available in 16-ounce four-packs, the company is looking to introduce 12-ounce six- and 12-packs at select locations.
