Rolling in to town for the third time this year, indie darlings Future Islands took to the Austin City Limits stage for their debut taping of the PBS show. Lifelong friends with North Carolina roots, the band plied their southern charms on a studio audience ready to dance along with the band’s wildly entertaining and charming front man, Samuel T Herring.
The group generated considerable buzz earlier this year with a performance of their single “Seasons” on Late Show with David Letterman, but as Herring likes to remind his audience, the band has been around a long time. With four studio albums under their belt, last night’s performance dug deep into their archive and satisfied both the loyalists and fans of their latest album, Singles.
