1. World-renowned steakhouse tops Austin's hottest restaurant stories of 2025. As 2025 came to a close, we looked back at the top stories about the evolving restaurant and cocktail scene. This is a meaty list, with lots of barbecue, steaks, and long-awaited debuts.
2. Famous Austin Mexican restaurant tries out steakhouse life for 10 days. Suerte tried out a new pop-up in the slow days between Christmas and the new year. Norteño Steakhouse at Suerte has been in very high demand, but walk-ins are welcome at the bar through January 4.
3. New ramen restaurant and sake lounge paints Georgetown red. Guests can expect a traditional ramen style in a fun environment, with a short-and-sweet menu to start and more dishes coming in the future. Most dishes and components, including the noodles, will be made in-house.
4. Austin diner and ice cream fave looking for new homes after demolition. Chief among the businesses fleeing 600 Lamar Boulevard, the former home of Waterloo Records, are Amy's Ice Creams and 24 Diner, which both assure customers they'll reopen.
5. Luxe 'athletic country club' ready for South Lamar debut. New Year's resolutioners have a bit of extra novelty this year as Life Time debuts its luxurious new club across nearly 57,000 square feet and two stories.
