Reports emerged early Monday afternoon that a shooter with automatic weapons opened fire on a residential College Station street, just blocks from Texas A&M grounds.
The school first reported the "active shooter" on its emergency page at 12:29 p.m, stating "Please avoid the area. Residents in the immediate area need to remain inside their residence."
By 12:38 p.m., the emergency page revealed the shooter was still active and on the 200 block of Fidelity Drive — about 2-3 blocks from Texas A&M's athletics area, including Kyle Field.
College Station Police Department reported that the shooter was in custody as of 12:44 p.m.
Other reports assert that two police officers were wounded, but that cannot yet be confirmed. Stay tuned for updates.
