ZACH Family Series: Holiday Heroes
December usually translates to a bevy of theatrical performances and shows centering on the spirit of the holiday season, but it can be difficult dragging the kids along to shows that aren’t exactly catering to their tastes. It’s even harder for the little ones who’d rather stay home and try to find hidden Christmas presents, but they are the ones who would appreciate a show like Holiday Heroes.
As part of the ZACH’s Family Series, Holiday Heroes is a fun and funny romp through the holidays with creators and stars Shaun Wainwright-Branigan and Jerome Schoolar, as they scramble to get everything ready for the Big Holiday Show in only 30 minutes. Sing along to get in the holiday spirit, and see if it’s possible to get your kids even more amped up for Santa.
Fat Bottom Cabaret Presents: “Midnight Menagerie”
Even if you don’t have kids or you’re a parent looking for some entertainment without having to wrangle up your youngsters, the North Door will gladly host you at one of their unique shows.
Fat Bottom Cabaret is an Austin plus size dance troupe that knows how to entertain audiences, while making anyone feel more comfortable about their own body. Each of the lovely ladies of Fat Bottom Cabaret prove that women of all shapes and sizes can be beautiful and sexy, and they can seriously put on a damn good show that will make you wish you took a few dance classes back in college.

Austin Through Glass: Google Glass Public Demos
Are you already panicking about what to get the tech geek in your life for Christmas in 2014? You can get a jump start on ideas, because Austin just so happens to be hosting a very special Google Glass event to help you learn more about the little computer that fits right on your noggin.
A very select groups of people across the nation have been trying out this buzzworthy tech tool and Austin is the latest stop on a nationwide tour. Just RSVP, show up at Brazos Hall and let some friendly reps walk you through the steps and tell you about the future of Glass. While you’re there, see if you can get one of them to spill the beans on when Google Fiber officially starts.
Sunday, December 15
Hardly a weekend goes by without a pop up arts and crafts holiday market, and Sunday features another opportunity to grab some handcrafted decorations and gifts for the holidays.
This time it’s a holiday market featuring the works of talented artists from Etsy, most of whom are from Austin, but now you can skip the step of paying for shipping and pick up some beautiful work directly from them. You might even get to socialize with them since there will be no world wide web as a medium between two human beings. How quaint. Just be sure to mark it in your calendar because this holiday market is only sticking around for the day before it goes back online.
Check out the calendar for more options, and don't forget to grab a double-double, Animal Style at the In-N-Out on your way to the show.
